MAERSK Line, the world's biggest container shipping company will levy a US$400 per TEU rate increase from ports in Asia to northern Europe from February 1.

Rates on the route, the world's busiest for container shipping, jumped 24.6 per cent to US$1,256 per TEU last week, Reuters reported, adding that the Danish shipping company controls one fifth of all containers going from Asia to Europe.
